Investing in Employees
Each year, St. Anthony's invest in our philosophy of “growing our own” by making a multi-million dollar commitment to education and training programs for our employees and community at large.
Scholarships
Our Norbert Siegfried scholarship program – comprised of the Health Professions Scholarship and the Sons & Daughters of Employees Scholarship – is one of the largest scholarship programs in the South County area and one of the best offered by an employer in the St. Louis region.
- The Health Professions Scholarship makes tuition money available to students living in St. Anthony’s service area who are pursuing degrees in critical heath care fields.
- The Sons & Daughters of Employees Scholarship awards grants to children of St. Anthony’s employees who are academically qualified.
In the past two years, 62 scholarships, totaling $373,000, were presented to deserving students in St. Anthony’s community.
Training & Development
- For non-native English speaking employees, we offer free English as a second language classes on campus to help them enhance their ability to communicate.
- Our school at work program allows employees to improve their academic and computer skills by attending weekly classes that are offered during working hours on campus.
- All front-line managers benefit from a comprehensive leadership development program.
- We have engaged the services of The Studer Group, a well-respected organization specializing in leading practices in patient, physician and employee satisfaction, in order to help our organization better listen to our patients, physicians and employees.
Advanced Education
- Through our partnership with Lindenwood University, St. Anthony’s employees have the opportunity to conveniently attend a variety of both undergraduate and graduate classes on the St. Anthony’s campus.
- We promote the professional development and advancement of our nurses by offering employees the opportunity to conveniently pursue their Master of Science Degree or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing on the St. Anthony’s campus through programs offered by Central Methodist University.
- Also offered on campus through Central Methodist University, RN to BSN program and the MSN-Clinical Nurse Leader program.
- Our Graduate Nurse Residency program is designed to facilitate the transition of a newly graduated nurse into a confident and effective staff nurse. This year-long program gives the graduate nurse individual guidance to unite the knowledge and clinical skills needed to start on a successful career in the clinical area of choice.
- All new nurses or nurses new to St. Anthony's participate in a Medical/Oncology, Medical-Surgical or Critical Care fellowship.
- We will invest an estimated $1 million this year as part of our tuition assistance program. The program offers employees tuition and textbook reimbursement up to $5,000 per year for full-time employees and $2,500 per year for part-time employees.
- Employees who are nursing or respiratory therapy new graduates can benefit from our loan forgiveness program which allows them to receive up to $5,000 per year for four years to be used toward repayment of their school loans.
- We support our nurses in being the best that they can be, including offering them the opportunity to participate in the Adjunct Faculty Program – a program where qualified nurses interested in teaching are trained to serve as on-site teachers for area nursing students.
