Stroke Club
This group meets the second and fourth Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Hyland Center. This is a member-driven club with a coordinator/sponsor from the St. Anthony's Medical Center Acute Rehab Unit. The meeting on the second Wednesday usually has a guest speaker on topics that members have expressed an interest. On the fourth Wednesday, the attendees split into two groups — survivors and caregivers. Each group then discusses issues such as role changes in the household, disability management, behavior changes and coping. Special events such as a fishing trip, picnic and luncheons are planned by the group. The Stroke Club newsletter is published every other month. Call 314-525-4561 for information.
Stroke Panel
This group meets the first and third Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon in the Acute Rehab Unit dining room. This is an excellent avenue for persons trying to understand the effects of stroke. An informational panel for new stroke survivors to meet with experienced stroke survivors provides an opportunity to discuss questions and concerns. Call 314-525-4561 for information.
