The Endoscopy Center at St. Anthony's Medical Center offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic procedures and treatments for inpatients and outpatients with gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. This full-service center has state-of-the-art equipment, including an electronic patient filing system that your physician can access easily.

Expert Gastroenterology Services

Services offered at St. Anthony's include:

  • Endoscopy - gastroscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Endoscopy is the use of a small, flexible lighted tube called an endoscope, which produces video images of the upper and lower intestinal tracts and the upper bile-producing system. Depending on the location of your symptoms, your physician chooses the endoscopic procedure necessary to diagnose and treat diseases and problems of the intestinal tract.
  • 24-hour pH Monitoring - a procedure to measure the level of acidity in the esophagus.
  • Esophageal Manometry – a procedure in which a thin tube is inserted into the esophagus to record muscle pressures and evaluate motor disorders.
  • Ano-rectal Manometry - a procedure in which a thin tube is inserted into the anus and rectum to record pressures and measure sensations from the anal and rectal sphincters.
  • Video Capsule Endoscopy – a procedure that diagnoses small bowel disorders. The patient swallows a capsule that houses a tiny camera that transmits video images to a recorder for the physician to view.
  • Stent Placement - a procedure in which a thin, hollow tube is placed endoscopically to provide a patent opening. This forms a bridge between two normal anatomical sites that bypass diseased or obstructed passages, including biliary, esophageal, pancreatic and colonic.
  • Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Placement - a non-surgical technique for placement of a feeding tube using an endoscope.
  • Small Bowel Enteroscopy - a visual inspection of the small bowel using an endoscope.
  • Spy Glass - A device to provide an intraluminal view for directing therapeutic devices in obtaining tissue samples within the bilary duct system.
