The Norbert Siegfried Scholarship Program

Health Professions Scholarship Program

Overview

St. Anthony's Medical Center Foundation established The Norbert Siegfried Scholarship Program in 2006. It is one of the largest of its kind in this community and one of the best offered by any employer in the St. Louis region. St. Anthony's developed a unique partnership with the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation to administer the program. The Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation will review all applications to the program and is responsible for final selection and award amount.

The Health Professions Scholarships are offered to talented individuals living in St. Anthony's service area who will become tomorrow's front-line caregivers. Applicants are responsible for completing the application, including a personal essay; arranging for required references; supplying a transcript of academic work and appropriate financial disclosures; and submitting the application and related documents to the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation. Application deadlines are announced annually. The deadline for the 2008/09 academic year was April 15.

Each year a select number of students pursuing health care careers are selected for a renewable scholarship award. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Respiratory Therapy (B.H.S. in R.T.) or Physical Therapy Master's (MPT) or Doctorate (DPT) are eligible for renewable scholarships in 2007. Students can be new or already attending an accredited Missouri college or university or Southern Illinois University and must be within 48 months of graduating. Selection will be based on academic achievement, demonstrated financial need and personal commitment to a career in health care. St. Anthony's employees and their children are not eligible for Health Professions Scholarships.

Up to 15 scholarships, each from $2,000 to $10,000, will be awarded annually. All applicants will be notified of their status in the competition by June 1 and scholarship recipients are expected to attend a reception in their honor.
